The Passion and the Purpose #3
A brief encouragement:
Young man, why do you watch that which teaches you to hurt and to harm? Do you not know that that which pleases you today will turn and devour you tomorrow? Let not your heart be defiled by your eyes but care for that which your eyes behold. Be a man and care for others, let not your heart be hardened. Resist temptation and flee from evil. Be a man of action, pursue holiness and purity and things that are commendable. Do not kill yourself by poisoning your heart and mind with what you watch. Turn now to the Lord your God.
This week’s post is about guarding our eyes and pursuing holiness. Every man is given some measure of responsibility, let us use that responsibility wisely, as God as directed us. Job made a covenant with his eyes not to look lustfully. Job 31.1 “I made a covenant with my eyes not to look lustfully at a girl. For what is man's lot from God above, his heritage from the Almighty on high? Is it not ruin for the wicked, disaster for those who do wrong?” Let us follow his example. If we resist the devil, he will flee from us. May we cling to God and He will be our shield and our fortress! I hope you are encouraged by this post and that it prompts you to stop and think about what your eyes see!
